Striped, speedy, and somewhat sneaky, raptors are extremely fast, (In fact, faster than any mob, with the possible exception of the Roflconda ), aggressive, and can pose a notable threat to those who wield ranged weapons as their primary method of attack, (Especially Rangers , due to the bow's slow rate of fire and slight inaccuracy). Their sounds are currently that of the spider, although this may just be a placeholder. They deal physical damage, and, similar to spiders, almost always jump while charging at their foe.
==Tactics==
Due to their hit box they have problems in closed areas like 1x2 tunnels. This can be exploited to great length when dealing with towers and dungons.
And what kind of RPG would this be without giant rats? A terrible one, that's what!

[[The Hack/Mine Team|Frizzil]] plans on having giant rats spawnable in every biome, including underwater and in space.

Rat monster spawners can be found in towers.

==Strategy==

Rats are quite bulky and small. This allows them to pass through spaces only a single block high, and also makes them annoyingly difficult to hit them. [[Warrior|Warriors]] can kill them easily, but [[Mage|Mages]] and [[Ranger|Archers]] should have the appropriate tools for fighting them. When fighting them 1 on 1 it's not a big deal, But in groups, Defence (Armor and/or Dexterity) is very important. If you are a [[Ranger|Ranger]], you should either shoot explosive arrows at them, and risk damaging yourself in the meantime, or you should always have a club our sword on you. If you are a [[Mage|Mage]], try to find an open area, and run backwards while shooting your best spells at them (I suggest using lightning, for its fire damage and large AOE). If you can't do that (if you're in a jungle biome or other constricted place) then find some water and shoot at them from underneath it.

[[File:seethewing.png|thumb|right|An image of a Dire Chicken which spawned with a different name and a colour difference/palette swap.]]'''Dire Chickens '''are a mob exclusive to the Hack/Mine mod.

Dire Chickens can spawn in any hazardous biome, and can also spawn from Dire Chicken Spawners. Dire Chickens also have the ability to hover/flutter like normal chickens, which can become a nuisance. They have low HP and inflict a moderate amount of damage, reaching deadly amounts in the higher levels.

They carry golden axes, though they never drop them when slain. Like all hostile mobs in the game, they can spawn with unique names and slight recolors/palette changes. As of 0.6, the Nagas have had a major texture improvement.

It is no coincidence that the old Naga resemble Chaos from Sonic Adventure II: Battle. The orange-cyan-green color scheme was subconsciously selected because [[The Hack/Mine Team|Frizzil]] secretly mourns for his long lost Chao, Douglas, who died many years ago after attaining level 99 and dominating the Chao olympics. Though Douglas's children live on, Frizzil never quite had the time to say "I love you" in between the Radical Highway runs and the dumping of green chemicals down Douglas's throat. No matter how many Chao he bred, none could make up for the opportunity he missed....
==Biomes==
HackSlashMine, in it's current state, has added 4 new "evil" biome variants. These are:
Evil Plains - Seems to be a variant of the Tundra
Evil Plains Bloody - A dark-red plain variant
Evil Mountains - A purple variant of the Extreme Hills
Evil Jungle - A purple varaint of the Jungle
All Evil Biomes except the Evil Plains are characterized by their purple (or dark red) coloration. The Evil Plains is yellowish and is covered with snow and lots of dead bushes.
Frizzilhttp://www.hackslashmine.net/hsmwiki/Template:Ombox/docTemplate:Ombox/doc2016-01-23T07:22:00Z
Frizzil: Reverted edits by Frizzil (talk) to last revision by 178.168.82.88

One of Hack/Mine's principle goals is to assert your 1337-ness by equipping magical gear in the eternal quest to improve your [[Stat System|stats]].

==Overview==
There are currently eight equipment slots:[[File:Inventory-CharacterPage.png|thumb|364px|(Above) Equipment and Inventory]]

*Head

*Body

*Legs

*Feet

*Amulet

*Cape (not in place yet)

*Ring (x2)

Equipment can range from basic leather tunics to enchanted Dragonscale armor. Equipment can be crafted, but it's probably better to acquire them from [[Dungeons|dungeons]], mob drops or [[Towers|towers]], as equipment gathered through these means can have magical properties on them. Additionally, crafted equipment does not show stats (for example durability and defense) and apparently can't be repaired. Rings and Amulets are always magically enchanted. Weapons can also have magical properties, but they will only take effect while the item is being held. This can be annoying when the item has Fortitude or Wisdom, because you will only gain the extra health/mana while holding the item.

Equipment can also be repaired by putting it in the crafting table with dirt. Sand, bones, redstone, iron, gold, and diamond can also be used, where all but sand are much more efficient at doing so. Cobblestone can only repair melee weapons, and leather can only repair armor.

Currently, capes are not in the game. They will be added in a later update.

For purposes of enchanting, maces are treated as tools and will recieve tool enchantments, not weapon enchantments. This is because they are a sort of hybrid between shovel, sword and axe. Wands, rings, and amulets cannot be enchanted.

==Durability==
In Hack/Mine, when a item's durability runs out it will not break but instead its slot will go red. This allows you to repair the item by putting it into the crafting grid with dirt (currently a place holder) and some other objects listed below. They all add different amounts, and as you tend to get a lot of redstone, this will give it a use other than circuitry.

There are currently three default classes in Hack/Mine: the [[Warrior]] , the [[Mage]] , and the [[Ranger]]. [[The Hack/Mine Team]] plans on adding additional classes to the default set, specifically a Bard and a healing class of some sort. Subclasses are also a distinct possibility.
This mod adds several new block properties. The most noteable is the tower/dungeon blocks. They range in color and vary in use. The first thing you'll notice is that the housing blocks have no breaking animaton. Nothing known can destroy these blocks. However, the inside chambers/levels have differently colored blocks that behave like normal stone bricks.

The obsidan block can be mined by using a golden pickaxe. It can also be created by using the bucket trick. Portals to the nether work well and fully(SMP bugs are few and far between).

==Introduction==
One of the larger changes introduced with Hack/Mine is the Area system. Areas consist of many chunks, randomly generated names, and random [[:Category:Mobs|mob]] compositions. A dynamic atmosphere system was recently added as well.
==Generation==
Area generation is handled immediately after terrain is generated on a chunk-by-chunk basis. If an adjacent chunk has already been generated and has a "compatible" biome, the adjacent chunk's Area will grow into the current chunk. If no adjacent chunk has a grow-able Area, a new Area is created, with properties specific to the biome it contains.
==Properties==
An Area's name consists of a base name and a modifier (for example, "Hills" as the base and "Bloody" as the modifier results in "Bloody Hills.") The base is entirely dependent on the biome, while modifiers are only loosely dependent on the biome, additionally granting the Area special properties. The loose dependence on biomes is primarily to avoid silly names, like the "Gumdrop Inferno" (though it is unlike [[The Hack/Mine Team|Frizzil]] to disallow such a thing.) Special properties currently include sky, fog, cloud, and overall screen color, as well as day and night lighting. Additionally, possible/required [[:Category:Mobs|mobs]] to be spawned will be added shortly, with many more features [[Future Plans|planned]].
==Purification==
In the future, there will be ways to "purify" an Area. For instance, defeating the neighborhood Lich would purge the Area of undead, or slaying the local Arch-demon would cleanse the lake of poison (Act Raiser anyone?) There is also talk of a "Base" mechanic, where rewards will be given for building a home in the more dangerous areas and keeping it intact for an extended period. This may also be a way to purify certain Areas.
==Level of Difficulty==
The levels of difficulty are created when the map is generated. The spawn will always be level one, areas becoming increasingly higher level the further out you travel out.

If venturing out far enough, the area levels will reset, resulting in a level 1 area next to a high level area (314 level area)

Another bug that exist deals with oceans. Because the area system is based largely in part by biomes, ocean biomes will typically follow area level progression rules when venturing away from spawn, until you reach land, where levels can be extremely high compared to the ocean. This is because as oceans are very large biomes, they are given their area level based on the distance from spawn, and while they go further off their level remains the same. But land, which features more and smaller biomes by comparison can go up based on distance from spawn as well. So once you get to the end of a level 11 ocean, you may reach a level 33 plains biome because, if you were to walk solely by land to get there from spawn, you would progress through the leveled areas as expected.
==Rare Spawns==

Rare Spawns are about 4x stronger than their normal counterparts. High levels can be dangerous to a low leveled player.[[File:Bossmob1.png|200px|thumb|right|Low-level Spawn]] [[File:Bossmob2.png|200px|thumb|left|A rare Spider compared with a regular spider]]

== Characteristics ==

Rare Spawns are usually the same size as the normal mob of their type (except for the occasional ultra-slime). Rare Spawns can be distinguished by color, and they also have a unique name displayed in their health bar, which is colored to correspond to the color of the mob. Along with more health, they are much stronger, and can leave a sizable dent in a rather careless player. They also have a randomly generated name.

[[File:2012-04-19_11.51.15.png|right|thumb|a tower]]
==Overview==
Towers are found throughout the world. Similar to dungeons there are different rooms with '''mob spawners'''. Each tower has a number of floors and the top room always has '''treasure''' in. Towers are found in multiple colours including blue, light blue, yellow, red and purple. Colours can also change depending on the different biomes that they are found in. Unlike the dungeons, towers are leveled depending on the level of the area you are in. As of patch 0.5, taller towers have been added to appear on occasion, with several more levels to conquer on your climb to the top, as well as better treasure once you reach the top room.

[[File:JungleTower.png|thumb|Jungle Tower]]

==The Rooms==

There are multiple rooms in the towers. Each has a random spawner and a different design. There are sometimes lava/water blocks on the floors. Currently, a bug exists where a tower which has generated on uneven terrain will have the entry hole facing away from the block which the world generator selected as the 'first floor level.' This can mean doorways that require pillaring or staircases to reach, or less commonly, buried entrances.

The top floor always contains a red carpet to the end chest, making it a profitable and sometimes dangerous source of wool.
[[Category:The World]]

==Defeating Towers==
There are many ways to defeat these towers.

[[File:2012-04-19_11.34.01.png|thumb|chest room]]

The Mage Rush: The mage rush requires the person to blink from room to the other side and climb the ladder all the way up to the top. This Is useful when fighting towers way beyond your level as this will allow you to get 10x's the items you have. But when this comes with the going down, it is rather hard as more mobs have spawned. You must carefully blink down the tower without getting swarmed by the evil monsters.
[[File:Warpedtower.png|thumb|An example of how a tower can "warp" when it spawns; notice the chest with white wool underneath of it instead of red.]]
The Midway Ladder: The midway ladder is where you rush to the midway of a ladder. As most mobs have very little range you can stay up there and shoot them with your wand/bow. After you manage to kill all of the mobs in that room you can rush back down and destroy the spawners. Then you can get on the ladder and stay half-way using your bow/wand, attempt to climb yourself up and down the ladder getting hits.(Using the Lighting Spell can be a very useful tool, but be warned that you can lose your items due to the lighting) Another Tip whilst doing this is to use the S key to climb up ladders. This is so you can face the mobs and easily go up and down.

All Balls: All Balls is where you get a diamond pickaxe and rush like a mad dog destroying all the spawners you can. This is best Done with warrior or a mage as mages can blink to dodge any attacks and warriors are quick enough to not get killed.

Fortress: Warriors or Rangers/Mages that are playing their class wrong can vastly increase their fortitude and simply walk in. They then use whatever weapon they want (I've done it even with my fist) to destroy mobs, then grab a pickaxe and stand on top of the spawners, using gust or whirlwind to keep mobs at bay while the spawner is destroyed.

All the above methods are outdated and because of the updates to the game, clearing towers has become a lot easier. This is due to the introduction of the ability tree which also you to put extra points into your abilities, either making them do more damage or shoot additional projectiles. This means that you no longer have to rely on your stats for damage and makes clearing mobs a lot easier. Therefore, if you just pick an aoe spell and spam points into that you should have no trouble clearing by just using that one ability.

==Easy Exp Farming==
There Is a way for all classes to use their abilities to get massive levels in a quick time.

All the mage/archer has to do is wait for a lot of mobs to spawn, then they can use their lighting abilities which can do a massive attack. The Warrior can spam their Whirlwind ability as well. Using this ability a few times will usually clear most mobs around your level.

Doing this however does destroy any items that drop. Some of the items might have just been that better wand/bow/armor you needed.

Another method for farming involves setting up a short barrier between a ladder, and multiple slime spawners. If one places half blocks in the right positions, it is possible to shoot charged bolt spells, arrows, or other projectiles through, dealing damage without destroying drops, or taking any hits.

This method is quite difficult to set up, but is very rewarding, because it takes very little time to make many kills, and score tons of loot. Warriors can simply block off the mobs at a doorway and use whirlwind to attack them through the door.
Steves are among the most socially advanced races, and as such are the most prevalent race existing in communities. They are an amicable bunch, capable of great acts of kindness, yet easily manipulated for the benefit of others.

Steves are probably the most versatile race in the game, thanks to their fairly balanced starting stats. Using Steve as your race for warriors is a good choice whether you're running intelligence or dexterity as the high amount of fortitude at the start should help you survive the early game.

Halflings are a tricksy race, both nimble and cunning. They are great thinkers and risk takers, always able to realize a profit where others could not. Despite their timid appearance, they are scorned universally, the Great War many hundreds of years ago having been waged in the name of a Halfling. Consequently, they've become disturbingly thick-skinned little buggers, continuing to inhabit cities everywhere, picking pockets, opening shop, and laughing in the face of extreme adversity as the opportunity presents itself.
Halflings are notably the smallest of all races, at a stature of only 1.3 blocks.

There's only like ONE way of building mages.
Stack Intelligence like there's no tomorrow, while putting a few points into Wisdom when you're running out of mana too quickly until you find a wand that regains mana.

For abilities, the obvious choice would be to spec into the flame breath ability. With a mana steal wand, you would be pretty much unstoppable and the fact flame breath has passive knockback really helps. However, you might have a bit of trouble with skeletons as you're required to run up to then first as the range of flame breath is too short.

Another option that might be interesting would be going a charged bolts build, because every point put into charged bolts adds an extra projectile. This could serve for more burst at close range and allow you to hit things from afar as well. Another thing is that, because charged bolts is available from level 2, you can get a lot more points into it, unlike flame breath which can only be unlocked at a higher level.

Lightning is an aoe ability and deals very good damage. However it is not a viable ability because it can hit yourself and it destroys items and exp.

You should have a point in mage cannon and a point in the prerequisite ability for flame breath if you are running flame breath.

==Item List (Wands)==
Wand - 1-3 OR 3-5 Damage

|}

There are a few abilities which are viable to spec into because they all provide aoe damage and this is needed for clearing towers and dungeons alike.

The most obvious one would be whirlwind as it hits 360 and damage increases the more points you put into it. You can also use it as a jump boost ad it launches you high into the air when you use it while in the air. It can be used for nifty things and below are ways it can be used as a utility move.
- Using it after you Leap for greater height and distance.
- Jumping normally then using it to make sure you dont take additional damage while it's on cooldown.
- Using it when you're falling down from a very high height as you will negate the fall and jump up again, avoiding fall damage.

Another ability that might be interesting to use is shockwave it allowed you to hit things at a range which can let you get away with less fortitude.

A third ability that might be viable would be charge as it deals aoe damage to the mobs in front of you and let's you rush to mobs that keep a distance like skeletons. However, charge will destroy items on the ground if you charge directly into them making charge more difficult to use as you need to get your positioning right.

==Ways to Build==

The below ways to build are the most effective ways to build a warrior and will scale extremely well into the late game:

The Basis of the below builds is that Intelligence and Dexterity are much better stats to invest in, either because they give you a plethora of other stats (Dexterity, which gives attack speed, crit chance, damage and defense) or because the damage scaling is ridiculous (Intelligence, each point gives a 0.5 damage increase to each elemental damage so a wand enchanted with 2 other types of elemental damage would give an increase of 1.5 damage per point, making Intelligence scaling the most damage efficient in comparison to the other stats)

*Bowarrior - Basically you focus on bows and use whirlwind/charge/shockwave as your main damage source. Because your abilities can scale off bow damage, this is viable. Also, bows scale off dexterity which is a much better stat than strength as dexterity gives damage, crit chance, attack speed and defense, making this way of playing a lot more effective than strength stacking warriors

*Elemental warrior - This is an interesting way of playing and it basically works off getting a wand, especially those enchanted with more different types of elemental damage. Because intelligence is a more damage efficient stat as intelligence adds to all your elemental damages, this could potentially be a new viable way of playing warrior. Also the cool thing about playing this way is that once you find a good elemental wand with 3 or 4 different types of elemental damage, you should be set for the rest of the game until you find a wand that yield higher overall damage. This build takes a while to get going though and you should aim to find a wand in your first few levels. However due to intelligence's superior scaling your damage will soon be a lot higher than bowarriors and continue to sky rocket at an exponential rate. Also, your damage output might become as high as mages.

*Tanky warrior: This is just a concept and hasn't been tested yet. The idea is to stack fortitude to get a lot of health. The reason behind this is because health regeneration is based off maximum health and I thought it would be interesting to have someone regenerate so quickly that enemy damage towards them would be negligible. The thing is that fortitude gives warriors a lot of health when compared to other classes, which makes this more viable. Also, you no longer have to stack offensive stats to increase damage thanks to the ability tree so this might just work.

More to come!

==Stats==
Depending on whether you're going Bowarrior or Elemental Warrior, you should stack either Dexterity or Intelligence for reasons cited above. Never put points into strength. I'll be damned if there ever was a more useless stat than strength. As proven above, Dexterity and Intelligence are much better stats. Also, feel free to put a few points into Wisdom as it seriously sucks to be swarmed and then realise you don't have the mana to whirlwind or even Leap away to safety. You should actually aim to get gear with good fortitude or put some points into fortitude later in the game, as it will help you during late game, when defense's value falls off.

*For an elemental warrior your stat priority for gear should be: Intelligence>wisdom>fortitude>dexterity>strength

*For a bowarrior:
Dexterity>wisdom>fortitude>strength>intelligence

*For a tanky warrior:
Fortitude>wisdom>whatever stat the weapon you're using scales off.

*64 Bronze coins => 1 Silver coin
*64 Silver coins => 1 Gold coin
*64 Gold coins => 1 Platinum coin

NOTE: In the current dev version, you only need 64 coins. Frizzil has said that it will be 100 in the future.

NOTE: You can only have a maximum of 63 Platinum coins as of now.

NOTE: You can't collect a whole stack of platinum.
*Is this a bug, or saying the same as above?--[[User:Stickman57|Stickman57]] ([[User talk:Stickman57|talk]]) 03:30, 9 September 2012 (MST)
*Collecting enough that your total platinum count goes over 63 results in the extra money not being registered at all, meaning you get nothing out of it. --[[User:Moppr|Moppr]] ([[User talk:Moppr|talk]]) 14:36, 3 October 2012 (MST)
==Trading==
[[File:Trading.png|frame|The trading GUI]]
When you find a NPC village, right clicking on a villager who does not use the default texture (one that has an apron of some sort) will open up the trading GUI. At the top of the GUI there is a box with the items that the villager has to offer, and underneath is your inventory. If you hover over an item, the price of the item will appear under its name. If the item is in the villagers area, the price under it is the buy price. Clicking an item will buy the item from the villager, which you can then place in your inventory. If you hover over an item in your area, the sell price will be displayed. You can click on the item and place it in the villagers area to sell it. Currently the villager's type does not affect the items, although the selling and buying rates do vary from vendor to vendor.

==Villagers==
Village spawn rate has been increased so that they can be found more commonly. However, as with vanilla Minecraft, villages may only spawn in certain kinds of biomes (though the list of village-able biomes has been greatly expanded.) The villagers that spawn inside the villages will be given a first and last name, and, of course, a level.

==Exploitable Bugs==
As villager trading in Hack/Mine is still in development, bugs can and do exist. Most are exploitable, and as such may be monitored or prohibited on servers. This section is mainly for the developers.
*If you remove only one arrow at a time from a villager selling them into your inventory, they will not charge you. This effectively allows for players to create an infinite money source if you then sell back the whole stack, although it can take some patience.

*Most items worth have a greater sell values than buy values, making them another kind of infinite currency generator.

*Sometimes when you rejoin single-player, all your armor weapons and tools are deleted

*On multiplayer, many villagers will often have all of the items in their inventory listed at "No Value". This allows players to make a large amount of money by buying all of that villager's items and selling them to another.

*Once the inventory of a villager is full, selling an item to them will fail,however you will still be given the respective amount of money anyways, allowing players to get a lot of money without much effort.

*In later versions, Frizzil has stated that upgrading to a higher grade of coin will require 100 of the lower value coin, and that the 64 required in the current dev version is a bug.

*If you take an item from a villager and place it in your inventory on dirt, you can replace dirt anywhere without having paid anything. This can be used to steal items and resell or just keep the items if you want.

If you find any more bugs with the currency system, please add them to the list above.
==Purification==
==Level of Difficulty==

To see expressions in Spellscript output via the 'print' statement, you'll need to be viewing Minecraft's console output. === Method 1 ===

The following displays the note icon and the word 'Note:'. You can follow this with whatever text/images/markup you like, and it works in-line, within a paragraph.
Monsters are green. <nowiki>{{note}}</nowiki> this is an in-line note, to remind you that some monsters are orangey-purple.

=== Method 2 ===
The following includes the text passed to the template, and uses a table to stop the text flowing round the icon. These always force a newline before and after the note.

<nowiki>{{note|Here is a long note, which is sufficiently wordy to run onto a second line,
which would normally cause it to wrap round the icon, but because we passed it as a parameter
Currently, the mystery dimension is entitled "The Void" and is accessable while in Creative mode, by flying off the top of the world. The terrain shape is reminiscent of the Nether, or that of the Aether mod. A reliable way to reach it in non-Creative has yet to be found (though you can jump in and out of it by making block towers). It is completely unfinished and will be completely changed, and currently features mobs and giant land formations. For now, if you're so inclined, you can explore it, but it is of note that there are currently no dungeons.

Areas and biomes still work in the dimension, though biomes are subject to being removed or changed.

As of 0.5.3, the Area system gets bugged when changing dimensions in SMP, so it's best to avoid the mystery dimension when on a server. If you do travel there, the bug may be fixed by relogging.

[[The Hack/Mine Team|Frizzil]] is collaborating with SMP to entirely retexture it. Expect something very, very awesome in the near future.
